Available now is the second generation Audi R8 Coupé 5.2 FSI quattro V10 Plus – a car that we think is one of those everyday supercars, suitable for all kinds of roads and driving conditions, and with enough comfort to keep both driver and passenger satisfied.
The Audi R8 V10 Plus is also the most powerful production Audi of all time. A V8 engine is no longer available in the R8, which means the new Audi R8 can only be experienced with a 5.2L V10. Changes in design include new LED headlights and a new grille to mention a few, giving the new Audi R8 a more futuristic and up to date look.
Power output is 602 bhp at 8,250 rpm, with a maximum torque of 560 Nm at 6,500 rpm. From standstill the car accelerates to 100 km/h in 3.2 seconds, and the car comes equipped with a launch control function as well. Top speed is 330 km/h. The first generation R8, in production from 2007-2015, was based on the Lamborghini Gallardo platform. However the second generation Audi R8 V10 Plus shares the same technical platform with Lamborghinis current model Huracán. The R8 has been redesigned to offer more space and comfort. No manual transmission is available from the second generation R8 – the only available option is a 7-speed S-Tronic dual-clutch automatic.
This is an incredibly fast high performance car with striking looks, well suitable also for wet or snowy conditions thanks to the quattro all-wheel drive. The mid-mounted V10 is taking up a lot of space, leaving you only with a 226-litre parcel shelf behind the front seats, however the deep boot in front offers an additional 112L for your luggage. Could this be the perfect road trip car for long journeys?
