The Lamborghini Gallardo was in production from 2003 to 2013. In a ten year period a total of 14,022 Gallardos were built, including several special editions. Although it has now been replaced by the Huracán we still think the Gallardo is a very special piece of Lamborghini history, that deserves to be experienced.
You have option to rent either a first generation Gallardo LP 520-4 Spyder, in production from 2006 to 2008, or a second generation Gallardo LP 570-4 Spyder Performante, that was the convertible version of the Superleggera.
The Lamborghini Gallardo LP 520-4 Spyder has a 5.0L V10 with 520 horsepower and 510 of maximum torque. From 0-100 km/h it accelerates in 4.0 seconds, and top speed is 315 km/h. Do not be fooled by the year, the Gallardo is still a real supercar.
Your other option is the Lamborghini Gallardo LP 570-4 Spyder Performance. With a new 5.2L V10 engine this car is capable of 0-100 km/h in 3.9 seconds, and can reach a top speed of 324 km/h. The power output is 562 horsepower at 8,000 rpm. Other revisions to the second generation Gallardo was an improved 6-speed E-gear automatic gearbox, which now was available with Corsa mode that makes 40% quicker shifts than before. The Superleggera, which means superlight, was designed to be a more powerful and lightweight version of the Gallardo LP 560-4. Although replacing the fixed roof with a soft top added 145 kg to the weight, the Spyder Performante still has plenty of power to move that 1,485 kg body.
A Gallardo makes you feel like you are driving an authentic Italian supercar. That feeling can be a little lost when seated in a modern supercar, where new technology is there to improve your driving experience – but sometimes also take away from it. In the older Gallardos it is already like a trip back in time to feel how supercars used to be ten years ago – but that trip is an exciting one.
