BMW M4 Competition Convertible

In our fleet we also have available the BMW M4 Competition Coupe, however for drivers who prefer open air driving the convertible is the perfect choice.

Like its sibling this stylish cabriolet is also powered by a 3.0L twin-turbo straight six engine, with 503 horsepower and a maximum torque of 650 Nm. The performance figures have slightly suffered by removing the roof - acceleration from a standstill to 100 km/h now takes 3.7 seconds instead of the 3.5 seconds of the coupe, however the top speed is the same electronically limited 250 km/h, and as with the coupe you can at order stage tick the box for the optional M Driver's package to increase this to 290 km/h. Whilst the coupe can be ordered as rear-wheel drive, the BMW M4 Competition Convertible is only available with BMW's xDrive all-wheel drive.

In terms of luggage space the convertible offers a bit less than the coupe as one would expect, however 385L is still a respectable amount of luggage space, however the downside is that this drops to 300L with the roof down. And you would drive a car like this roof down whenever possible - luckily you can also use the rear seats for extra bags (for adult passengers they aren't very practical for long journeys - there is limited leg space and head room).

The soft folding roof can be operated at speeds up to 50 km/h and takes 18 seconds to open or close, and it provides excellent noise insulation with the roof up. Interior-wise the convertible is similar to the coupe - and those familiar with the BMW's 4-series generation of cars will recognize the design. Stylish, not too cluttered, and with controls easily accessible for driver and passenger alike. The gearbox is a smooth 8-speed torque converter automatic, which can be used in fully automatic mode, or using the paddle shifters behind the steering wheel for more sporty driving.

For a convertible this generation of the BMW M4 Competition Convertible has very little scuttle shake, and although the added weight doesn't go completely unnoticed this is certainly a very good convertible sports car which is easy to live with, and easy to drive - the perfect companion when you're looking for a car that is very fast, but less demanding than a supercar.
