Ferrari Purosangue

Under the bonnet sits a 6.5L V12 petrol engine (same as in the Ferrari 812 superfast but with lots of modifications), with a maximum power output of 715 hp at 7,750 rpm, and a maximum torque of 716 Nm at 6,250 rpm. Puts this into test in the real world and you have an incredibly capable SUV that will accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.3 seconds - astonishing figures for a car that weighs more than 2000kg - and can reach a top speed of 311 km/h. It's safe to say that you won't be disappointed with the Purosangue - it's one of the fastest SUV:s on the market, and the fact that it's a V12 Ferrari makes it even more exciting.

Ferrari has fitted the Purosangue with the same all-wheel-drive system that was introduced in the Ferrari FF, and later also used in the Ferrari GTC4 Lusso - the system only operates in the first four gears, and only up to around 200 km/h. Beyond that speed the car is driven by its rear wheels only. Ferrari has also introduced something new in the Purosangue - an active suspension technology featuring Multimatic’s True Active Spool Valve (TASV) System. The short version is that there are no traditional anti-roll bars, and instead the car has compact electric motors on each corner that can apply force to the axis of the damper, resulting in a better ride quality. On top of that the car has a nearly perfect 50:50 weight distribution (49:51).

The drive modes you can choose between are Ice, Wet, Comfort, Sport and ESC Off. Additionally you can adjust the damper settings according to your preference – soft, medium and hard. Put on some winter tyres and you certainly have a fantastic road trip car to enjoy in winter wonderland - the perfect companion for our winter driving holidays in the snowy mountains...

You have two comfortable bucket seats in the back separated by an armrest - with decent legroom and headspace even for most tall adults. Getting in the rear seats is also made fairly practical thanks to its rear-hinged suicide doors - a first on a Ferrari.

Where the Ferrari Purosangue falls short compared to the Lamborghini Urus is luggage capacity. The boot is 473 litres with all seats in place, and in a Lamborghini Urus you get 616L. However, in the Purosangue you can tilt forward or fold down entirely the rear seats which gives you some extra space, and additionally there is also a hidden storage area beneath the boot floor.
