Aston Martin DB12 Volante

The new DB12 Volante certainly looks apart, with its redesigned larger front grille and new headlights, as well as a more sporty looking front splitter and sills. The DB11 Volante was fitted with a 4.0L AMG twin-turbo V8, and the DB12 Volante is no different - under the bonnet still sits a M177 from Mercedes-AMG (tuned by Aston Martin's engineers, of course), however the DB12 Volante benefits from a significant power increase (from 503 bhp to 671 bhp), as well as a torque boost (from 675 Nm to 800 Nm). Both the 0-100 km/h acceleration (3.7 seconds) and top speed (325 km/h) numbers are also better than in its predecessor - the 3.7 seconds certainly puts it in line with cars such as the Ferrari Roma Spider.

The 2+2 seat layout has been kept although the rear seats are better suitable for children due to limited leg space. And whilst not being the most practical car in terms of luggage space - the boot will only accommodate 169L with the roof down - the small rear seats certainly come in handy on driving tours when you need a bit of extra space.

Interiorwise the Aston Martin DB12 Volante is a major step forward compared to the DB11 Volante - the car has a new dashboard, large touchscreen, and a new infotainment system with support for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Changes you can not see, but will become clear once behind the wheel of the car on open roads, is that the additional strengthening to the car has resulted in a car that should feel stiffer - and sportier - than the DB11 Volante.
