Ferrari 488 GTB was introduced in 2015 as the successor to the Ferrari 458, that had been in production already since 2009. But instead of continuing using naturally aspirated engines the Ferrari 488 GTB is powered by a 3.9L twin-turbocharged V8. It is smaller in displacement, but higher in output. The power has increased with 100 hp compared to the 458, as the 488 GTB has a power output of 661 hp at 8000 rpm. Also maximum torque has significantly increased, with 760 Nm offered at 3000 rpm.
The 7-speed F1 gearbox, an automated manual dual-clutch by GETRAG, is based on the gearbox of the Ferrari 458. The carbon-ceramic brakes are derived from technology used in the LaFerrari.
