Although the first Ferrari California has now been replaced with the new California T, with a turbocharged engine, it is not too late to experience the original California. First launched in 2008 this two door 2+2 hard top convertible is the most sold model in the Ferrari model range. Although the car was also offered with a 6-speed manual, sources say only two were ever sold with one – the rest were ordered with the 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
The California was the first car to feature many new technologies from the Ferrari factory. It was the first front engined Ferrari with a V8, first car with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission, the first Ferrari with a folding metal roof, first with multi-link rear suspension, and first with direct petrol injection. The car is powered by a 4.3L naturally aspirated V8, producing 453 horsepower at 7750 and 485 Nm of torque at 5000 rpm.
In 2012 a facelift version of the Ferrari California was launched. It reduced weight with 30 kg, increased power with 30 bhp, and the 0-100 km/h acceleration was reduced to 3.8 seconds. It also offered a Handling Speciale package, and Ferrari decided to no longer offer manual transmission as an option. The cars we have available for the tours are all facelift models.
The Ferrari California is the perfect choice for some enjoyable convertible touring, and especially in Tuscany on a sunny day you will feel you are in the right car, in the right place. No matter which model a Ferrari will always turn heads and if you drive one in its home country Italy, you get extra much attention!
