Maserati MC20

Since the launch of the absolutely iconic and breathtaking Maserati MC12 in 2004, which was limited to only 25 cars, the Maserati factory hasn't pushed out anything truly special with a wow factor, and the brand been best knows for its elegant grand tourers. With the MC20 the company is clearly trying to appeal more to the sports car drivers, and with its exotic design - the MC20 is the first ever Maserati with butterfly doors - it also has the looks of a supercar.

This rear mid-engined rear-wheel drive machine is powered by a 3.0L twin-turbocharged V6 Nettuno engine with F1 technology, producing an impressive 621 horsepower and 730 Nm of torque. The speed at which this car goes is truly impressive - weighing less than 1500 kgs, it will accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.9 seconds, and it can reach a top speed of 325 km/h. It will keep up with almost any supercar from Ferrari or Lamborghini, and whilst it might do all of this with a bit less of all the dramatic noise than we're used to hearing from many Italian supercars, it's still one impressive ride.

The chassis of the Maserati MC20 has been co-developed with Dallara, the Italian race car specialist and manufacturer of the Dallara Stradale. You have different driving modes to choose from: the GT is the standard mode for everyday use, and Sport is the perfect setting for those twisty roads. You also have Corsa for the track, and Wet for the rainy days. This new Maserati is a comfortable car you could enjoy daily and on long trips. The combined 148L of luggage space (47L in the front, 101L in the back) is still in line what you get from other supercars, so as a road trip companion it isn't a lot more practical - but certainly fun.
