Rent a Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS in Europe for a thrilling Porsche road trip adventure - explore the best driving roads in the Alps and beyond behind the wheel of this nimble fast sports car.
The 718 Cayman GT4 RS is the top of the range Cayman, which does not share the same engine with the entry level 718 Cayman or even the Cayman S - powered by 2.0 or 2.5L turbocharged flat-fours - but instead has the same 4.0L six-cylinder naturally aspirated boxer engine that you also find in the GTS and GT4. In the GT4 RS the engine is pumping out a respectable 493 horsepower, with a maximum torque of 450 Nm. This means the GT4 RS will accelerate 0-100 km/h in just 3.4 seconds - this makes it faster than a lot of purebred supercars - and it can reach a top speed of 315 km/h. And thanks to that high revving naturally aspirated engine - with a 9,000 rpm redline - it does all that with a fantastic sound...
Whilst the Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 can be ordered with a 6-speed manual gearbox the RS only comes equipped with the PDK - we are sure much to the disappointment of those who are in the team 'save the manuals', however Porsche has said they don't have a manual gearbox that fits behind the GT4 RS' engine. Don't let that put you off though - the PDK gearbox is a fantastic piece of equipment, and with the paddle shifters behind the steering wheel you can shift manually, as you conquer Europe's perfect sports car territory.
The 718 Cayman GT4 RS was designed as a track toy and you only need to look at it to realise that everything about it looks like it was built for the Nรผrburgring and not the open road. There is a rear wing with swan-neck connection for increased downforce, louvres in the CFRP wings for improved wheel arch ventilation, bonnet (which is Carbon with the optional Weissach package) with NACA air intakes for optimum brake cooling, and more... Going RS in a Porsche means you will have more eyes on you as you're driving past, however ultimately you can take any modern Porsche - even the most powerful ones - and they will all be wonderful to also drive in a sensible manner. But when you need it you know the power is there...
And whilst you lose the small rear seats of a 992 in a 718 Cayman, you do gain an extra boot. The front luggage compartment will accommodate 125L of luggage, and at the back is another boot of 136L, making the Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS a fairly practical companion for a driving holiday.

The open road awaits...
