Aston Martin V8 Vantage Roadster

Like its sibling, the Aston Martin V8 Vantage Coupe, the V8 Vantage Roadster also has a 4.0L twin-turbocharged Mercedes-AMG V8 under its bonnet, producing 503 horsepower and 685 Nm of maximum torque. The convertible is a bit slower then the coupe - the sprint from 0 to 100 km/h takes 3.8 seconds (0.2 seconds more than the coupe), and the top speed is also a slightly lower 306 km/h. The car has three driving modes - Sport, Sport + and Track - which suggests that Aston Martin never intended this to be a convertible cruiser, but instead a purebred sports car.

With the V8 Vantage Aston Martin managed to achieve a near perfect 50-50 weight distribution, and although the V8 Roadster is 60 kg heavier than the coupe the team at Aston Martin have done their best to make sure the cars feel very similar. The extra weight is due to changes such as a stiffened chassis - 14 kg of extra weight but the result is a more rigid car - and the folding roof mechanism (fabric roof, not a retractable hard top). The roof will open in 6.7 seconds, and fold up again in 6.8 seconds (incredible figures - for example the Lamborghini Huracan EVO Spyder does the same job, with a fabric roof, in 17 seconds) - and you can operate it up to speeds of 50 km/h. The rear dampers and the stability control system have also been tweaked on the Roadster.

The downside compared to the Coupe is the smaller boot - the Coupe boasts 350L, which is generous for a sports car and makes it a fairly easy job to pack for a road trip, however the Roadster only has 200L which requires a bit more creative thinking when packing (luckily separate luggage transfer between the hotels is always an option).
