Rent a Porsche 992 GT3 RS in Europe with Colcorsa and experience one of the most exciting new sports cars on a road trip of a lifetime.
Porsche is world-famous for making phenomenal sports cars - cars that break Nรผrburgring lap records, and cars that will beat many exceptional supercars both on track and road. The GT-models in particular attract drivers who like to take their cars on a race track, however these cars are equally in their element on Europe's fantastic twisty mountain passes in the Alps, where one can sample both the handling and performance of these capable machines.
The Porsche 992 GT3 is already a very powerful car, however with the GT3 RS you get that little bit of extra. The thing that stands out first is the extreme aero package that makes the GT3 RS look pretty menacing on the road - big rear spoilers, front diffuser and more - all of course designed to improve aerodynamics and downforce. The new GT3 RS is capable of making twice as much downforce as its predecessor, and three times as much as the current GT3 - so those hours spent designing the car clearly have paid off.
In terms of power the Porsche 992 GT3 RS is not significantly more powerful than the 992 GT3 - the 4.0L flat-six engine with a 9,000 rpm redline is producing only 15 more horsepower than the standard GT3. However, the 0-100 km/h time is reduced from 3.4 seconds to 3.2 seconds (both PDK), whilst top speed has taken a hit and is now at 296 km/h instead of 318 km/h. Although in the real world it's not that relevant - this car will be in its element tackling those beautiful curves at higher altitudes, and not on the Autobahn.
Andreas Preuninger, who is the head of GT road cars at Porsche Motorsport, says despite having a stiffer suspension the GT3 RS doesn't feel much different from the GT3 on the road. One significant thing that has changed from the standard GT3 is that the 132L front trunk has disappeared in order to make room for a front aerodynamics module. There is still space behind the seat for enough belongings to get you through a driving holiday - if you are used to travelling lightly (and if in doubt or you don't want to be restricted to how much you can bring there is always the wonderful thing called 'separate luggage transfer between the hotels').
